Terms of use
Rules for Quokkie: what's allowed, what isn't, and what happens if someone breaks them. Last updated: 8 October 2026. This is a translation; in case of doubt, the German version applies.
Quokkie is provided by Daniel Steyer, Walddörferstraße 276, 22047 Hamburg, Germany, email: team@quokkie.app. By signing in to the app you agree to these terms. How we handle your data is described in the privacy notice.
- You are at least 16 years old.
- You sign in with your own phone number and don't pretend to be someone else.
- If your account has been suspended, you don't create a new one.
This applies to text and voice messages, live conversations, reactions, names and anything else you share through Quokkie:
- Endangering children: any depiction of child sexual abuse, sexualised contact with minors (grooming), blackmail with intimate images (sextortion). Zero tolerance; see Child safety.
- Harassment and bullying: insulting, shaming or stalking people, repeatedly contacting someone against their will.
- Threats and violence: threats, calls for violence, glorifying violence or terrorism.
- Hate speech: attacking people for their origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics.
- Unwanted sexual content: sending sexual content to people who don't want it, and sharing intimate images without consent.
- Spam and scams: mass messages, unsolicited advertising, phishing, fraud, malware.
- Infringements: anything that breaks the law or violates the rights of others, such as copyright or personality rights.
- Misusing the service: circumventing security measures, modifying the app, accessing our servers automatically or disrupting operation.
You are responsible for what you send. Your content belongs to you; we only use it to deliver it to the person you're chatting with. Chats are end-to-end encrypted, we can't read them and we don't scan them. We only see content when someone sends it to us in a report.
- Block: in the chat, tap the person's name at the top, then “Block”. They can then no longer send you messages, react or talk live with you. You can undo this under You › Blocked contacts.
- Report a person: in the chat, tap the name at the top, then “Report”.
- Report a message: press and hold the message, then “Report”.
- Without the app: by email to team@quokkie.app.
When you report from a chat, the app sends the most recent messages of that chat to the Quokkie team in decrypted form so we can assess the case. The reported person isn't told who reported them. We review every report promptly, reports about endangering children with priority.
If someone violates these terms, we suspend the account temporarily or permanently. Suspended accounts can no longer sign in and can no longer be found by others. We pass on indications of criminal offences, in particular of child sexual abuse, to the competent authorities. If you think a suspension is wrong, write to team@quokkie.app and we'll take another look.
Quokkie is free. We do our best to keep it running reliably, but we can't guarantee that the app is always available without errors or that messages always arrive. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable for breaches of essential obligations, limited to the typical, foreseeable damage.
You can stop using Quokkie at any time and delete your account in the app (see Delete account). If these terms change materially, we'll tell you in the app and ask for your consent again. German law applies; mandatory consumer protection rules of the country you live in remain unaffected.
